Well, here it is at long last. I've been
meaning to create a blog for so long now but
really just couldn't be bothered. So,
what's a blog? Well, it's an online diary
where you can record you thoughts and
interesting finds - other people can then view
the blog and gain a little insight into your
interests.
Of course, mine promises to be a rip-roaring,
laugh a minute intellectual roller coaster.
So visit often and see what I'm up to. Use
the categories menu on the left to filter my
blog posts as required.
What? Again? That's right fans, I've moved up to level 49.
Now heading over to Tanaris just to finish off there as I have completed all the Feralas quests now. Once I'm finished in Tanaris, I'll probably head back over to the Eastern Kingdoms and continue questing over there.
Hold on to your hats people, Utah Saints are back! They return with a brilliantly remastered version of the classic "Something Good" and an even better video.
Watch the video and get ready to download the song on the 10th of March.
That's right friends, level 48 this time. Also, I only have two more talent points to go before I get my Felguard.
Even though I'm still questing in Tanaris and Feralas, I'm going to head up to The Hinterlands to finish off a few quests there - then I'll back over here and finish off here also.
Before any of that though, I'm going to head over to Stormwind for further Warlock training. Also, I've amassed a load of cheap tat I want to shift at the Auction house. If you're interested in a bargain, I'll be the one outside the Auction House doors with the flat cap, lanky sidekick and yellow three wheeler.
Anyway, that's the latest news - I'm sure you're all thrilled to hear it ;)
I use Sky broadband so thought this story was rather fitting.
Sky have switched off their in-house SMTP servers this week, completing their email outsourcing deal for broadband mail services with Google.
However, despite numerous warnings, many customers have got themselves into a right kerfuffle.
Anyone with Sky broadband who are now experiencing email problems could do a lot worse than heading over to Skyuser. Otherwise there's an official guide here.
Just finished reading Clarkson's latest book 'Don't stop me now', and it's actually pretty good. And that's quite a compliment coming from someone who normally only reads books with soldiers or guns on the front. Hilarity abounds from page to page, very witty throughout.
While admiring JC's writing style, I wondered if there was such a thing as a Clarksonism. So to prove the point, I turned to the one place which is guaranteed to answer any complex quandry. Google.
Turns out, there is such a thing as a "Clarksonism", here are some of my favourites:
About the Porsche Cayman S: "There are many things I'd rather be doing than driving it, including waiting for Bernard Manning to come off stage in a sweaty nightclub, and then licking his back clean."
"The air conditioning in Lambos used to be an asthmatic sitting in the dashboard blowing at you through a straw."
"Koenigsegg are saying that the CCX is more comfortable. More comfortable than what... BEING STABBED?"
Assessing Hammond's crash: Clarkson: "you can see from the tape that the tyre is starting to come apart. Now why didn't you spot that?!" Hammond: "I had a lot on: I was doing 288 mph." Clarkson: "What do you mean you had a lot on? I can be in the office on the phone, doing the paperwork, kids are shouting at me, wife etc, but if a lion walks in, I'm going to notice it!"
Read more here. Alternatively, do what I did and Google it.
What on Earth? Yes, that's right. eBay are planning to completely overhaul their feedback system and ban sellers from leaving negative comments about buyers.
But, crazily, they are still going to allow buyers to leave negative comments about sellers.
In my opinion, this doesn't make a bit of sense. It's madness. So, essentially, you could go round buying anything off eBay, never paying and other sellers would not know that you are a complete waste of time. Then, as well as wasting the sellers time you can also leave fraudulent negative feedback. But don't worry, the seller can't do the same to you - you're untouchable! Great! Hours of fun to be had.
So, then, if eBay decide to go ahead with this plan, what is the point of a feedback system at all for sellers? Also, as a buyer, if you have very few feedback comments, does that mean you cannot be trusted? How can you build up a reputation if people think your feeble feedback score is a reflection of how you conduct business? The fact that you are an occasional user seems as though it's going to count against you.
Reminds me of the old saying: "If you've got nothing good to say, don't say anything at all."
Come on eBay, think about what you are doing here.
I noticed a bug in the Blog code earlier related to the Pagination when viewing filtered blog posts.
If, for example, you click a category link with 3 posts in it, the Pagination would report a second page, because the total blog posts in the database exceeded the limit of 10 per page.
While fixing this, I noticed a schoolboy error with the display code, and cannot believe what a nub nub I've been. I've totally streamlined the blog code now reducing the file size from a rather massive 31'640 bytes down a to a much more respectable 17'951 bytes.
Hoorah to me and apologies for the geeky post. On a scale of 1 to 10, this must reach a 7 on the geekometer.
